The Festive Season (Book Two Spoilers)
Well, it's the festive season, two days ago many pagans will have celebrated Yule. Today is the last day of Saturnalia which Romans would have celebrated. Then there's all of the more commonly celebrated winter festivals including Christmas. Being a vampire I know people from all walks of life, all periods of time and all celebrating a wide range of things - but there's no denying it's a time for family and... presents.
About presents - what do you buy a century old vampire? Having married two husbands who lived in Georgian England, Christmas is the celebration of choice and modern day Christmas involves at least token gifts. It's not easy to decide what to get such men though. Two days before Christmas and I still haven't gotten Tul anything. Craig suggested a hook (that will be explained in Allegiance) but that would be inconsiderate. I could get him a new sword... but that isn't exactly Christmassy. Or a selection box, I couldn't believe it when I discovered there's a company selling blood selection boxes - I kid you not - you can choose how many bags of o neg, b pos, etc, etc you want included. It's still bagged blood though, which is gross. Weaponry and emergency supplies, that's what I've been left with as options. We are not normal people.
Anyway, I might not get back online before Christmas, so I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I'll see you in 2014!
Now I'll try to resolve this present crisis...
Eve.

Evie's Thoughts: December 2013 - Getting to Know Me - Book 2 Spoilers
Hello and welcome to the first issue of Eve's Thoughts! I might pop on here every now and again to keep you up to date with what I'm up to!
Lots of exciting things have happened this month, none of which I'm allowed to share as it would spoil book three of The Vampire Alliance series by Angela Louise McGurk. She's currently writing up our current goings on for the last book in the series, while as writing a short spin-off to explain some of the goings on between books one and two. It's all very exciting and I wish I could tell you about it! Instead I'm going to tell you a little about me, all the little things that I couldn't share in the books but which make me human... or vampire... or whatever. After all, when I'm not trying to get myself killed or waging war I still like to sit down and watch a film with a tub of Ben and Jerry's. although my re-discovery of ice cream is a recent event.
Name: Eve Blakethorn-Sullivan (Other: Sullivan, Brooks, Blakethorn, Holland)
Date of Birth: 21 October 1987
Species: Vampire (Strix)
Sire: Tulloch Sullivan
Line: Well I still consider myself part of Johan's Line, though really I've established my own Strix line now. Although that's complicated in itself. I created a knot in the line.
Marital Status: Married/It's Complicated
Favourite Colour: Slate Blue
Favourite Film: Hunger Games - Catching Fire and The Devil Wears Prada. I know, two entirely different genres there. I suppose I empathise with Katniss in Catching Fire. Shit happens and then you're left with no choice but to join a rebellion, I get that. The Devil Wears Prada simply satisfies the girly-girl in me. She doesn't get much of an opportunity to show herself very often, what with everything else that's going on.
Favourite Book: Well, they're actually a series of books and honestly it's a bit corny to admit; a vampire should read something other than vampire romance, right? But my favourite books are the Chicagoland Vampires books by Chloe Neill. Who wouldn't want to be in Merit's shoes? Who wouldn't be interested in Ethan Sullivan? Although it isn't lost on me that the main male character I like in fiction is called Sullivan.I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out in February!
Favourite Author: I have to say Angela Louise McGurk, right? But also Chloe Neill.
Favourite Food: Blood, straight from the vein, especially Tul's even though I can't live off it. However, at the moment I'm also very partial to Cheese Toasties. My newly acquired love of food will be explained in book three, don't worry.
Hobbies: Drawing/Reading/Writing - Anything peaceful, really.
Best Memory: My wedding.
Worst memory: Where would I even start with that one? Rob's execution is fairly high on the list, but then when you read the books you'll see why I haven't got just one worst memory. It's been a tough few years.
People who inspire me: Robert Blakethorn/Tulloch Sullivan. Who wouldn't be inspired by what they went through as both humans and vampire? But also the soldiers of WW1. What those men had to witness and do in the trenches in order to defend our country and other countries is awe inspiring as well as often being horrifying. Next year will be 100 years since the beginning of the war and I really do thing we should remember and respect those who fought for us.
Favourite Place: Palatine Hill, Rome
Triggers for Irrational Anger: The phrase "You're my brother's wife..." I can't help it, those words just make me want to punch people, a very specific person, actually.
Anything Else: If you want to ask me anything visit the 'Ask the Alliance' page and leave a comment.

Author Releases Book Documenting Alliance Activity
Over the last two years our rebellion against the Senate really
ramped up. We feel it is now time to make our presence public and to
start sharing a few of our secrets. To do so we've created this blog and
also spoken in depth with author Angela Louise McGurk.
Angela has done us the honour of putting some of the last two years into words, writing a series of three books. Thankfully I am not the focus of the three books as I'm far more of an overseer these days (at 2008 years old I think it's about time the younger generation took charge). The focus of the books is on Eve Blakethorn, wife of executed Senate Northern Chief Robert Blakethorn. Since his death in 2009 the Alliance and Mrs Blakethorn have had a very tense relationship and on a number of occasions I would've liked the girl assassinated. However, her story ties into our story and I agree with the Author that Eve made an excellent central figure.
The first book in the series was released on 8th December 2013 (U.K)/7th December 2013 (U.S.A.) titled Absolution: The Vampire Alliance Book One and is available for Kindle through amazon.co.uk and amazon.com. The relevant buttons on the side of the blog can take you to the relevant location.
Allegiance: The Vampire Alliance Book Two will be launched early in 2014 with Antithesis: The Vampire Alliance Book Three following in mid - late 2014.
Now, a little about Absolution.
Blurb:
Eve Blakethorn can barely remember what it was like to be unaware of the vampire world around her. Many years have passed since she met the stranger, the man who saved her life, gave her the world and promised her immortality. Unfortunately for Eve someone in power had not wanted her to have the world. Within days of her marriage her life is shattered. Everyone Eve cares for, vampire and human, is taken from her and she is left alone to fend for herself in a world she neither understands nor fits into. How can she hope to survive her dark and lonely existence while still plagued by the horrors she witnessed when her husband died? How can she avoid becoming prey to the monster who stalks her footsteps, the devil she has long suspected to be the one who brought about her husband’s downfall?
Desperation drives her every move, leading her into the darkness where monsters wait. Can Eve discover the truth about how her world came to crumble and who was really responsible? Is there another stranger out there capable of bringing her some sense of peace? And just what is the vampire government, The Senate, hiding in the dark tunnels under the city?
I hope you enjoy the books and finding out a little more about The Alliance.
